Watercolor Pet Portraits
With more than a decade of experience, I dive wholeheartedly into each new portrait, providing high-end traditionally painted pet portraits. My watercolor pet portraits are based off my watercolor portrait paintings series. That is to say, your custom portrait will be painted in the same style—layered washes, exaggerated colors, and my signature splatters, making for a unique, one of a kind work. Check out the process and prices below.
Oil Painting Pet Portraits
My oil painting pet portraits can be painted traditionally with oils or in black and white using a dry brush technique. Each approach makes for a truly unique piece that is traditional in style or hyper-realistic in shades of gray. Purchase your very own unique portrait of your dog, cat, horse, or other pet that fills your heart with love. Check out the process and prices below.
Curious about how it will all work? Commissioning a custom pet portrait is an exciting process. I make sure that you are involved every step of the way and are ultimately completely satisfied. Check out the process I’ve outlined here.
The first step in the process is the most important! Here, we’ll discuss the composition, what exactly will be in the painting, and look at the references that will be used. Client photos are extremely important in this process. I’ll need some really good quality photos to paint from. Hopefully, you’ll have several good ones for me to look through. Based off the photos you send, I’ll let you know the different options for the portrait – from a head study, full body with a studio background, or a full body with a full background. For those interested in a full background, we can use additional references.
Once the composition has been discussed and we have picked out some good references I’ll email you a secure payment link. I use Paypal as a payment provider, which will accept all forms of debit and credit cards along with Paypal transfers. Full payment must be made prior to starting any artwork.
Once payment has been made, and your painting in next in cue, I’ll start the painting process. If you’d like, each stage of the painting can be captured and shared. This definitely adds a sense of participation and is always welcomed. Your feedback is also encouraged at this point. Painting time varies depending on the size and complexity of the piece but generally takes less than two weeks once started.
Once the painting is complete and you have given it full approval, it will take a few weeks to dry (for oil paintings). Watercolors paintings are ready to ship immediately. For oil paintings, once dry, I’ll apply the canvas with a high gloss varnish to complete your traditional oil painting pet portrait. Framing can be completed per request. Give it a few more weeks to dry and then it will ship out, packed, protected, and insured.
